Eternal Spear
A reach weapon with a spin attack and a throw-and-recall special, built around zoning and safe poke damage.
The Eternal Spear is the range fighter of the melee weapons. Its main attack is a long thrust that lets you hit enemies before they reach you, and its special throws the spearhead out and recalls it, so you can deal damage from a distance and keep enemies at arm’s length. The Spear rewards patience and positioning over aggression. If the Twin Fists are about getting in someone’s face, the Spear is about never letting them get to yours.
How it plays
The main attack is a forward thrust with good reach, ideal for poking single targets and keeping a line of enemies in front of you. Hold the attack to wind up a spin that hits everything around you and can be charged, which is your crowd-clear and your big-hit option in one. The special throws the spear out as a projectile and recalls it to your hand, dealing damage on the way out and giving you a ranged poke that does not commit you to closing distance. The dash-strike is a quick lunging thrust that repositions you while still dealing damage.
The charged spin is the Spear’s signature. Charge it while dashing or just outside a group, then release into the crowd. Learning when you have time to charge versus when to thrust is the whole skill ceiling of this weapon.
Aspects
The Spear has four Aspects. The three standard ones level with Titan Blood; the Hidden Aspect of Guan Yu must be unlocked through the story. Note that the Spear’s Hidden Aspect must be unlocked before any of the other five weapons’ Hidden Aspects can be unlocked, so the Spear is the gateway to all the Hidden Aspects.
| Aspect | Emphasis at the archetype level |
|---|---|
| Zagreus | The default. A flat general buff with no gimmick, fine for any build. |
| Achilles | Strengthens the dash-strike, rewarding aggressive repositioning attacks. |
| Hades | Centers the playstyle on the charged spin attack. |
| Guan Yu (Hidden) | A high-risk reworked kit with reduced max life and a sweeping attack. The gateway Hidden Aspect. |

Boons that pair well
The Spear’s reach makes ranged and area damage shine. Zeus chain lightning spreads across the line of enemies you are already poking. Demeter’s Chill slows a group while you keep your distance. Poseidon’s knockback works with the spin to control space, since you push enemies away and keep your safe bubble. The throw-and-recall special pairs with any special-scaling boon if you want to lean on ranged poke. Athena’s Deflect remains a strong defensive backbone. See the boons and gods overview.
How to start with it
Start on the Zagreus Aspect and learn the rhythm of thrust, charged spin, and recall. Take an attack or special boon early and commit to it, and grab a defensive boon when offered. If you are working toward Hidden Aspects on other weapons, remember the Spear’s Guan Yu unlock comes first, so put early Titan Blood toward that path once you have it. Spend Darkness in the Mirror of Night on survivability before Aspect levels.
