Black Coat (Xinth)
The secret sixth Nocturnal Arm, a mechanical jetpack and arms with a punch combo, a force-field Omega Attack, and an Omega Special that locks onto multiple enemies.
The Black Coat, Xinth, is the hidden sixth weapon, the spiritual successor to the Adamant Rail from Hades 1. It is a mechanical rig of jetpack and arms: you punch in close, raise a force-field, and lock onto several enemies at once for a multi-target blast. It is the last Arm you unlock and the most mechanically dense, with a defensive layer and a multi-lock targeting move that no other weapon has. You unlock it with two Cinder and two Adamant; Cinder drops one per run from Hecate, and Adamant is gathered from Outcroppings on Mount Olympus, so it waits on surface progress.
How it plays
The standard Attack is a punch combo at close range, and the standard Special fits between punches for spacing. The Omega Attack raises a force-field before releasing a blast, giving the Coat a built-in defensive beat the other Arms lack. The Omega Special is the signature: it locks onto up to six enemies and then strikes all of them, turning a crowded room into a single coordinated hit. Spend Magick on both Omega moves inside a fight since it refills at the next door, but the force-field and the lock-on both take time to resolve, so do not start them when you need to dodge immediately.
Open crowded rooms with the Omega Special lock-on. Tag up to six enemies, fire, and watch the room thin in one move. Save the force-field Omega Attack for when you need to eat a hit and answer it.
Its Aspects
The Black Coat carries several Aspects, including a hidden Aspect of Selene, the moon-tied secret variant the research specifically calls out. At the archetype level the Aspects reshape the punch combo, the force-field, or the multi-lock so the weapon leans toward defense, burst, or crowd control. The hidden Aspect of Selene ties into her moon abilities, which fits the Coat’s place as the secret weapon. The research flags the exact Aspect list and effects, including Selene’s, as “verify,” so confirm the current wiki before spending Nightmare; do not assume the hidden Aspect’s numbers.
| Aspect | Role (archetype) |
|---|---|
| Base | Rewards the punch and blast kit |
| Lock-on focused | Bends the kit around the multi-target Special |
| Aspect of Selene (hidden) | Moon-tied secret variant; effects verify on wiki |
Boon pairings
A multi-target weapon with a built-in crowd strike loves statuses that spread or trigger across many enemies. Hera Hitch is a standout, since the lock-on already touches up to six enemies and Hitch then spreads damage further; see the Hitch build. Zeus Blitz suits the punch combo’s hit count and the multi-lock’s spread of hits, covered in the Blitz build. Apollo Daze pairs with the weapon’s wide reach by expanding the area of its abilities, in the Daze build. For how to commit to a status core, read boons and gods.
How to start with it
The Black Coat is a late unlock, so reach the surface first. Bank two Cinder from Hecate and two Adamant from Mount Olympus Outcroppings, then unlock the Coat at the Cauldron. Learn its rhythm: lead crowded rooms with the Omega Special lock-on, use the force-field Omega Attack as a defensive beat, and pick a status that spreads across the enemies you tag. Spend Magick on Omega moves since it refills each room. As you earn Nightmare from the Oath of the Unseen, level your chosen Aspect, the hidden Aspect of Selene included. Plan the Cinder and Adamant gathering through the gathering loop.
